Our man Matt crowned Class B (240bhp/ton) Champion of the largest endurance racing series in the UK.
The 750mc Endurance Championship. 110 drivers, from April to October, Racing throughout the UK at major circuits, plus two races at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps racetrack in Belgium.
On 7th October 2018 at a balmy sunny Snetterton, the seventh race of the series saw Matt, racing for the ‘Faucough&Dye Motorsport‘ Team in the M&G sponsored Porsche 968 take his fifth win of the season, in his first ever attempt at a Championship, in only his second season of racing. The TV footage is below (fast forward to @1:38 onwards for our man being interviewed etc)
A crazy year which saw Matt win the opening race at Oulton Park from 27th on the grid through to setting Pole at Silverstone and, the major highlight, at Matts favourite track, Anglesey, not only winning the class, but also the entire race. Despite having a major issue with a left rear shock absorber snapped clean in two for at least half the race Matt managed to lap the entire field and set fastest lap!
The Faucough&Dye team consists of Team Boss Mark Hammersley, of Applied Autosport in Stafford. M&G’s own Mat Lamb (professional removalist) and Matt’s lifelong friend Lee. A team that has consistently performed crucially slick and cunning pitstops / strategy calls that at Snetterton for example saw Matt come into the pits 4th, and leave in 1st!
Wins were taken at Oulton Park, Rockingham, Silverstone, Anglesey, and Snetterton. With Spa producing a 2nd, and a 4th.
